Ergonomics and Anthropometry Part 1

1. Compare the two types of setup and state reasons why one of the setup is preferred.

The setup where the man wearing black clothes is preferred rather than the setup with the man in the white suit. This is because the man in black's desk is not cluttered, is very neat has a chair with lots of freedom, while the man in white's desk is totally cluttered, has no space for other things is unsightly and the chair is really obstructing the user.

2. What are the area of considerations when designing a conducive and comfortable workplace?

The considerations are: The chair, the amount of space on the desk, the arrangement of things placed on the table, the things placed on the table.

3. State the reasons why these considerations are important.

It is because the chair determines the amount of freedom the person has, the amount of space allows whether there are many or few things, the arrangement determines the look of the table, which makes the workplace more conducive, and the things placed on the table determines if the table is cluttered or not.

Elderly Friendly Environment

This is my video on the elderly challenge. It is a 361 degrees view of the whole 'house'. The main features are:
The low bed
The low bed allows elderly to get on and off their beds easily and not require any strenuous movement.

The doors
There are doors which connect all the rooms together so that an elderly person could easily move from place, taking the shortest path, rather then having to walk through the other rooms to get to the kitchen.

The toilet handrails
There are multiple handrails to allow the elderly to grab in case of emergency, like slipping on wet ground. These bars also can be used as supports when the elderly is moving around.

The big toilet floor mat
This big toilet floor mat is to have more space occupied so that more area would be less slippery but also not like carpets so that not so much washing is required.

The low sinks
Both toilet and kitchen sinks are made low to allow easy reach for the elderly. As some elderly may also drop things, these low sinks prevent slightly more the event of dropping items, such as plates.

The somewhat simple cooking stove
This cooking stove is quite simple so that it is easy for elderly to use.

The 55inch LED TV
This is so that elderly with short or maybe also long sightedness can watch TV without straining their eyes that much compared to a small and blur TV.

1. How are the elderly doing now?

2. Would the elderly feel comfortable with me helping and my solution?

3. Not all elderly have physical problems, so what is the most important thing that all the elderly need and want?

My top 3 essential questions:

1. Not all elderly have physical problems, so what is the most important thing that all the elderly need and want?

Explanation: Not all the elderly have physical problems, so how is the best way to let all the elderly and even society use my solution. I want to know what the best way to do things to impact more or all the elderly, not just the disabled elderly.

2. Would the elderly feel comfortable with me helping and my solution?

Explanation: I have this question so that I will know whether the elderly would use my solution because they might need it but do not want to use it maybe because they do not know how to use it or do not trust it, etc.

3. Do the elderly want help?

Explanation: I ask this question because if the elderly do not even want help, then what is the point of helping them?

Holiday work - Part 1: Understanding the ‘The Elderly Challenge’

1) Housing for Seniors: Elder-Friendly Housing
Provide cheaper houses for the elderly so that thy still can stay in their house without having to move out.

Accessibility for Seniors: Barrier-Free Society
Making Singapore a place that is accessible for everyone in Singapore, even the elderly, so that they can be independent.

Caring for Seniors: Holistic Affordable Healthcare and Eldercare
Give the elderly 'discounts' so that they can also pay for their own expenses.

Opportunities for Seniors: Active Lifestyles and Well-being
Have more activities for the elderly so that they can be healthy and can interact and socialize like the other Singaporeans do.

2) It states that the Government should consider specific measures to facilitate the development of retirement housing by the private sector, in particular, varying the length of land leases to lower land costs, to cater to seniors who desire such lifestyles.

3) We can give 'discounts' to them for medial and other important necessary purposes.

The Government should promote family physicians to provide first-line medical care for seniors in need of end-of-life care.

4) I can help to tell others about these issues and help to work on them.

I could make a product to help elderly.

I could help any elderly I see.

This is my solution to the Bird problem for SST's permanent site.

Auto Animations

This is a Rubik cube solving itself it only took 5 minutes.

This is an animation of a bionicle smashing into a turret and the turret disintegrates and rebuilds itself, like in some cartoons.

This is just to see how animation can make things come to life. Those outriggers are part of another project.

Bouncing BALLZ

This is what me and my group have done for the animation class on the previous ADMT lesson. We managed to make the ball bounce nicely but the video was a little bit short though.©

LEGO® Minifig Animation

This animation is my first LEGO® Minifig animation but not my first LEGO® animation. It is about a LEGO® Minifig sneaking into Chemistry Lab and firing a cannon in the Chemistry Lab. This destroys a vehicle in the Chemistry Lab. The Minifig tries to escape but fails as his purple Chemistry Teacher appears in front of him and whacks his head with his staff. The Minifig disappears and his Chemistry Teacher whacks the ground and the debris disappear too. The animation ends. It took 1+ hour(s) to complete. This video is ©.

NEWater Personal Recount

After visiting the NEWater plant today, I learnt that NEWater is mainly for industrial use, is purified through three stages and about the four 'taps'. NEWater is used mainly for industrial purposes as the NEWater is extremely clean and by doing this, there is less drinking water that is used for industrial needs. I learnt that of the three stages, only the first two are more important but the last one is to ensure Singaporeans that the NEWater is safe to drink. I learnt a few concepts today, two of them are that water molecules are smaller than viruses, bacteria and minerals and the second one is that strong ultraviolet rays can kill living things. One interesting thing that I learnt from the NEWater visit today is how the water is suck up the pipes in the first stage. The pumps have to reverse sometimes. I could be a NEWater ambassador to tell others to use less water and convince them that NEWater is safe. I could tell people to use 140 liters of water a day to reduce water consumption in Singapore.

The second picture is red cranes at a construction site near my grandfather's house.
The third picture shows less than 10 percent of the snacks.
The fourth picture has my mother giving a red-packet to my cousin.
Fifth picture has most of my paternal relatives.
The sixth picture is how the Yusheng looked like at first.
Seventh picture has the Yusheng after the mixing.
The last picture has a Korean dish that my parents learnt how to make. It is was eaten at my neighbors house and it is some Korean rice cakes.

Sustainable design

Sustainable design is the study of designing objects that are eco-friendly and are useful.
Sustainable design can range from the tiny objects in daily life to buildings. Sustainable design can be used in i.e. Engineering,Urban Design,Industrial Design.
The objects should be made from renewable materials as it should be eco-friendly. Example of an object using sustainable design: Wind turbine

Research-Part 1

1) Research is to find out information required for tasks.
2) Research is important because it helps me find out about things that I do not know or understand.
3)We can conduct good research by searching for the important key words and focusing on the point.

admt personal reflection

1) ADMT is making things look nicer, better and more interesting.
2)Without ADMT the world would still be very simple. Like there would not be electronics.
3)I would want to learn how to design better things, especially Lego.
